The important role of geomembrane in reservoirs

2025/12/26 14:26

Geomembranes play multiple key roles in pools (such as reservoirs, sewage ponds, fish ponds, etc.). The following is an introduction and summary of the characteristics of geomembranes:

1. Anti-leakage (core function)

Geomembrane is made of high molecular polymers (such as HDPE, PVC) and has extremely low permeability coefficient, which can effectively block water leakage and ensure the sealing of the pool.

Compared with traditional clay or concrete linings, it has higher anti-seepage efficiency and reduces water waste. It is especially suitable for arid areas or scenes with high environmental protection requirements.

2. Environmental protection and pollution prevention and control

Isolate harmful substances (such as industrial wastewater, pesticides, heavy metals) to prevent groundwater and surrounding soil pollution.

In ecologically sensitive areas (such as wetlands), the interaction between water and soil can be reduced and the balance of the ecosystem can be protected.

3. Enhance structural stability and durability, resist chemical corrosion and UV aging, and have a service life of 20-50 years.

Used in combination with geotextiles to improve puncture resistance (such as resistance to damage by plant roots or stones).

4. Convenient and economical construction

It is lightweight and easy to lay, suitable for complex terrain or remote areas, and the cost is lower than that of concrete structures.

5. Other auxiliary functions

Water quality management: impurities can be filtered in orchard reservoirs and combined with disinfection measures to improve water quality.

Ecological restoration: reduce soil erosion and stabilize the environment around the reservoir

Typical application scenarios

Agriculture: Irrigation reservoirs, aquaculture ponds;

Industry: sewage treatment ponds, tailings ponds;

Municipal administration: artificial lake, drinking water reservoir.
